DESCRIPTION:This 8-hour class is Part 1 of the two-part training requirement for obtaining an Illinois Concealed Carry License (CCL). All applicants must complete Part 1 as part of their required training.\nPart 1 and Part 2 may be completed in any order. You can take either course first, depending on your schedule and training needs.\nWhat You’ll Learn\nThe classroom portion covers:\n\nFirearms safety and safe concealed carry practices\nProhibited carry locations under Illinois law\nCharacteristics of a quality holster\nDifferences between revolvers and semi-automatic handguns\nProper grip, stance, and sight alignment\nFirearm cleaning and holster drills\n\nLive-Fire Qualification\nStudents will complete a 30-round live-fire qualification at the range:\n\n10 rounds at 5 yards\n10 rounds at 7 yards\n10 rounds at 10 yards\n\nComplete Your Additional 8 Hours of Training\nChoose one of the following options:\n\nIllinois Concealed Carry 2\nUtah, Florida & Arizona Concealed Carry ( https://gatguns.com/classes/utah-florida-arizona-ccw )\nNRA Basic Pistol ( https://gatguns.com/classes/nra-basic-pistol )\nDefensive Pistol I & II (4 hours each)\n\nOther Training and Qualifications That May Satisfy Part of the Requirement\nCertain prior training, military service, or law enforcement experience may qualify for partial credit toward the Illinois CCL training requirement, subject to Illinois State Police rules and applicable eligibility requirements.\nThe following options may satisfy the indicated number of training hours:\n\n8 hours: Active, retired, or honorably discharged member of the U.S. Armed Forces\n8 hours: Previously qualified law enforcement or corrections officer, as provided under 430 ILCS 66/75\n4 hours: Illinois Hunter Safety Course\n4 hours: Nevada Concealed Carry\n4 hours: Missouri Concealed Carry\n4 hours: Kentucky Concealed Carry\n4 hours: Michigan Concealed Carry\n4 hours: Chicago Firearms Safety Course\n8 hours: NRA Personal Protection in the Home\n8 hours: NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home\n\nEligibility for credit depends on the specific course, documentation, and applicable state requirements.
