
NRA Basic Pistol

$150In this 8-hour course you will learn proper handling, firearm safety, range procedures, ammunition, and shooting fundamentals of revolvers and semi-automatic handguns. This course is designed to teach the first-time pistol shooter the proper way to handle and shoot a handgun and is accepted by Illinois as 8 of the required 16 hours of training for an Illinois Concealed Carry License. If you want to bring your own firearm, you are welcome to do so. Since you are under instruction, Illinois residents are not required to have a FOID card to take this class.

There are no prerequisites for this course.
Lynn is an NRA Training Counselor and NRA Certified instructor in Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun, Home Firearm Safety, Metallic Reloading, Shot Shell Reloading, Chief Range Safety Officer, Range Safety Officer and Refuse to Be a Victim. As an NRA Training Counselor, Lynn conducts instructor courses to certify new NRA Certified Instructors. Lynn participates in competitive rifle and pistol events and is a specialist in ammunition manufacturing and ballistics.
Lynn co authored the GAT Guns CCW courses and has extensive legal knowledge gained from his prior experience working the local, county and state police in the hiring, testing and officer advocacy role. His military experience includes a number of technical roles and leadership roles in both manned and unmanned aircraft. Lynn is frequently found teaching one of the two 8 hour IL CCW courses and soon to be introduced renewal courses at Gat Guns.
Lynn conducts both student and instructor level courses at GAT Guns including Basic Rifle Basic Pistol and Range Safety Officer. Lynn co-authored the Long-Range Rifle course taught at GAT Guns and works with a number of competitive shooters to make custom ammunition for their long-range needs.
His approach to teaching is rooted in his own learning experiences across a number of diverse disciplines. Lynn makes his courses relevant to the student by including material and teaching in a way that he would have wanted to be introduced to the subject. Whether it’s a pistol grip, a rifle position , a shooting strategy or a legal issue in the defensive firearm world, Lynn relates ideas of fundamental understanding to the unknown in an enjoyable and memorable way.
