In this 8-hour course, your will learn all about the rifle fundamentals. This course begins in the classroom and covers various action types, safety, ammunition, and you will learn the 5 rifle shooting positions. These positions include: prone, sitting, kneeling, bench, and offhand. You will receive coaching in the classroom and on the range in how to shoot them properly. We supply small bore rifles and ammunition as part of this class. If you have a .22 rifle with open sights or an optic, you can bring it as well.

You do not need a FOID card to take this course (unless you are bringing your own gun) as you are under instruction of an NRA Certified Instructor.

Bob is an NRA Certified Instructor in Pistol, Rifle and Reloading as well as a Range Safety Officer, Long Range Rifle Instructor and certified Illinois State Concealed Carry Instructor. He can be found hanging out at GAT Guns on the weekends teaching many of our classes, or just helping a student select a pistol or rifle. Bob has extensive knowledge in ammunition handloading including both internal and external ballistics helping students make better ammunition or just get started.

With over 45 years of shooting experience, Bob combines his experience in the tactical and competitive shooting worlds with his background in the sciences to provide his students with both the “hows” and “whys” of safe shooting in a fun and easily understandable fashion.
