Paul WarrenNRA Certified InstructorA Police Officer with just under 20 years of experience and is the owner of Safe Side Tactical.
He is a certified Police Firearms Instructor, NRA Basic Pistol Instructor, NRA In Home Defense Instructor, and Utah State Certified Concealed Carry Instructor. He also holds many other state certifications to teach firearms courses.
Paul has been teaching Concealed Carry Courses for the last 4 years and draws from his experience in working undercover narcotics. Paul currently serves as a Patrol Sergeant and the Sniper Team Leader for their multi-jurisdictional S.W.A.T. Team, with over 18 years of experience as a S.W.A.T. operator.
Paul has developed most of the courses taught at Safe Side Tactical. He believes that education and training is the key to staying safe and hopes that you will take the next step to be on the safe side of a deadly force encounter.
In Home Defense
What will you do if an intruder breaks into your home? How will you react? What is your plan?
Our course is designed for both beginners and advanced shooters. By participating, you’ll gain the knowledge needed to make informed decisions in the event of a home invasion. This unique course, offered exclusively through Safe Side Tactical at GAT Guns, addresses the complex questions of modern home defense.
We encourage you to bring any questions or concerns you may have. Our instructors present the material on lethal force in a relaxed and accessible manner, making complex moral and legal issues easier to understand.
In our Home Defense course, you’ll learn how to develop a personalized plan for your home. By the end of the course, you’ll have a detailed plan tailored to your residence and family. We’ll also cover Illinois laws and how they differ from those in other states.
You’ll work on creating a safe room specific to your home and compile a list of essential equipment to facilitate a safe resolution during a critical situation.
Students will have the chance to see how common home defense ammunition performs through drywall. You may also bring your own ammunition and firearm for testing, though the instructor or range officer will make the final decision on its use.
A highlight of the course is the shooting exercise, where you’ll see how many walls home defense rounds can penetrate if the target is missed—often a revealing experience.
1 -35 = Beginner | 36-70 = Intermediate | 71-100 = Advanced

- Cancellation / Reschedule of a class up to one week prior to the class is $25.00
- Cancellation / Reschedule of a class from one week to the day of the class is $50.00
