FOID APPLICATION
We take the complexity out of getting your FOID Card
Important Notice!
Due to the nature of the account recovery process, we may be unable to complete your application without a second visit or a call to the Firearm Services Bureau. For more information, read below or give us a call at (847)428-4867.
The ISP (Illinois State Police) is no longer accepting paper applications for FOID (Firearms Owners Identification) cards.
The process is a little more complicated than it was before. It will require the setup of an online account with the ISP. Your application will be submitted electronically and payment will be made with your credit card. The account you create is also used for the IL Concealed Carry License application and renewal of your FOID and/or CCL, so you will need to make a record of your user name and password. We can assist you with the entire process. We have been doing FOID applications for over 30 years.
Got FOID?
The FOID application can be frustrating
We have trained staff to make the application process easier. FOID applications are done during normal store hours, no appointment is needed. We have two computer systems dedicated for processing FOID applications. Upon completion of your application, you will receive a receipt and detailed instructions with the information you used to log in to the ISP (Illinois State Police) website.

Some fine print
Changes to the FOID and FCCL Acts that took effect January 1, 2022, and rules adopted implementing these changes, require FOID and FCCL cardholders to submit renewal applications prior to the expiration of their card to remain valid. Additionally, while the Gubernatorial Disaster Proclamation in response to the COVID 19 pandemic remains in effect, if a cardholder submits a renewal application after the expiration date of the card, their expired card will be reset to valid while the application is processed so long as the FOID Card is not subject to revocation pursuant to the provisions of Section 8 or Section 8.2 of the FOID Act or the FCCL is not subject to revocation pursuant to the provisions of Section 70 of the FCCL Act.
